From 1903, a now somewhat uncommon form of entertainment the whistling specialty: The Bobolink performed by Joe Belmont.

Once quite popular on the turn-of-the-previous-century stage, whistling solos also recorded very well on wax cylinders and therefore were regular features in early record company catalogs.
Joe Belmont, whose real name was Joseph Walter Fulton, was one of just a handful of whistling artists (along with John York Atlee, Billy Golden, and Nina Angela) who recorded the bulk of whistling selections on two-minute wax cylinders.
