The banjo was the most popular and common instrumental solo featured in early sound recordings.   Much less common were ensembles such as this banjo duet.   Heard here on this Columbia Phonograph Company 5-inch diameter "grand" cylinder are Vess Ossman ("the banjo king") and Bill Farmer.
