Enjoy this recording of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "The Bridge" - written some time in the 1840s - condensed and put to music by Miss M. Lindsay.

Typical of many two-minute wax cylinders, there was only enough recording time for just the first verse of Lindsay's two-verse condensation (see below) – leaving the work in a decidedly melancholy tone.
