La Basoche, a three act comic opera composed by André Messager
and based upon a French libretto by Albert Carré,
premiered in Paris on May 30, 1890.
In this brown wax cylinder recording,
baritone Gabriel Soulacroix sings "Je suis aimé de la plus belle"
("I loved the most beautiful") as Clement Marot in the role he created ten years earlier.
Many thanks to Max Verrando for his assistance transcribing and translating this wax cylinder's announcement.
