Actress, singer, and comedienne Bessie Wynn was famous for her roles in the
original cast of Victor Herbert's The Wizard of Oz and Babes in Toyland
(where Wynn introduced the classic song Toyland).
She introduced several of Irving Berlin's songs, and wrote lyrics as well: including
the words to this song.
Although she recorded just three cylinders for Edison, Bessie Wynn probably
holds the world's record for the highest-pitched squeaks and squeals
ever recorded on a wax cylinder (hear the chirp at 0:23, for example)!

A vivacious little serio-comic.
The popular comedienne's imitation of the little miss who
coyly admits that she would like to kiss her boy sweetheart but "dassent"
is as clever as that of the same "grown-up" miss who would like to
indulge in the gayeties of the social whirl but dare not.
The air is sprightly and pretty.
Orchestra accompaniment.
Words, Bessie Wynn; music, Ted Barron; publishers, M. Witmark & Sons, New York City.
